5 Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Uber Health Insurance Plan
If you’re an Uber driver, you may have recently heard about the new health insurance plan that Uber has introduced called uber health. So what exactly are uber health plans? And how can you ensure you get the most out of your own? Here are 5 tips to help maximize your plan’s potential, whether you drive occasionally or full-time.
1) Use In-Network Providers
You are eligible for Uber Medical and Uber Medical Transportation. To ensure you are getting the most out of these benefits, review how Uber defines medical services and transportation, then review how medical providers will be classified for your needs. As a provider, your office must have an information package with all relevant information about your doctors and specialists so you can provide this at point-of-service when required. You will also want to ensure that in your network agreement, you have language for emergency room visits when appropriate. Lastly, once again on a provider side, make sure that you have reasonable cost structures so those without Uber healthcare or an equivalent plan do not find this too cost prohibitive
2) Get a Primary Care Physician
Some Uber drivers have a primary care physician, but many don't. We've compiled a list of five easy ways for you to get in touch with a doctor:
* Use your Lyft driver's insurance. Contact your health insurance company and make sure you're enrolled in Lyft and uber medical transportation (Uber for doctors). Keep an eye on the number of rides taken and ensure no incidents would stop this coverage from applying. Check out what some other riders had to say about Lyft driver's insurance here.
* Take advantage of group rates at walk-in clinics. AA clinic may offer discounted rates or free visits if they find out you work in Uber as well as personal vehicles.
3) Understand Your Coverage
Understanding your coverage doesn't mean understanding your plan wording, it means understanding what expenses you'll be able to be reimbursed. It's a good idea to review this information every so often in case things have changed. Remember that for Uber for medical appointments and Uber Health transportation, you will need prior approval from Uber. This also includes making sure that your credit card allows for reimbursements. If your job requires you to travel with miles or with points it's a good idea to know if these cover any necessary health care expenses and if not, these should either be deducted before claiming reimbursement or claimed separately.
4) Use preventive care benefits
Visit your general practitioner regularly and don’t hesitate to visit a specialist when your health issues seem unclear. Uber for medical appointments allows you to get in touch with qualified doctors who specialize in specific areas, including cardiology, dermatology, physical therapy, etc.
Remember that preventive care benefits can also be accessed from within the Uber app. You have up to 30 days after you first use it to do so. All registered Ubers come equipped with a blood pressure monitor - another way for those taking advantage of their Uber healthcare plan to keep an eye on their cardiovascular health!
Uber is working hard not only to create access but also to keep quality in mind by screening all physicians through third-party standards and conducting annual competency tests.
